When do telc Deutsch exams take place?

At GLS in Berlin, telc Deutsch B1 & B2 exams take place all year round:

What does the exam cost?

194 € (telc Deutsch B1 and B2) and 209 € (telc C1 Hochschule)

How do telc Deutsch exams at GLS work?

At GLS, the written and oral parts of the exam take place on the same day. We usually start at around 08:30. The exam can last until 4 pm. This depends on the number of participants in the oral exam, which takes place in pairs. Also possible: individual oral examinations and examinations with 3 participants.

Approximately 2 weeks before the exam, you will receive an email from us with the exact schedule for your exam day.

Is the telc Deutsch exam paper- or PC-based?

The written part is paper-based. The oral exam is done by examiners on site.

Which items can I take into the exam room?

Only pencils and transparent drinking bottles are allowed in the examination room. Electronic devices (mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches, etc.) as well as bags and jackets are not allowed. You can leave these items with us in the waiting room.

Are there breaks between the parts of the exam?

There are breaks between the written and oral parts. You can spend the breaks at GLS in the waiting room. There are no breaks in the written part, except in the C1 university examination.

What result do I need to pass the telc Deutsch exam?

You need at least 60% to pass. These are 162 points in the B1 exam, 180 points in the B2 exam and 128 points in the C1 Hochschule exam. Within the written part (reading comprehension & language modules, listening, written expression), you can compensate for weaker test components with better ones.

What can I do if I have passed one of the parts of the exam – written or oral – and failed the other?

If you passed one part of the exam, the written or the oral part, with at least 60%, but failed the other part with less than 60%, the overall result is considered failed. However, you have the option of having your passed part of the exam credited to the next exam. This means that you will only repeat the failed part of the exam at the next exam and the passed part of the last exam will be taken into account. To do this, you must send GLS the result sheet of your last exam when registering for the exam. However, this is only possible if you repeat your failed partial exam within 12 months. Crediting is always made to the last examination result achieved.

How long does it take until I receive my telc German certificate?

The evaluation takes about 4 weeks. The certificates are sent to us by telc gGmbH and as soon as we receive them, all participants receive a message by e-mail. You can pick up your certificate/result sheet from us. If you would like to receive it by post, you must hand us a stamped A4 envelope addressed to you on the day of the exam.

Where can I get a replacement certificate if I have lost my original?

If you need a new certificate, please contact telc gGmbH. You will need to complete an online form and will then receive a new certificate.

Can I take part in the exam if I have a disability (deafness, blindness, dyslexia etc.)?

What if I want or must cancel my exam?
